Storybook Parade 2011

Before Halloween each year, the Boys & Girls Clubs of South Central Texas hosts a Storybook Parade. Children and all book lovers attend dressed as their favorite storybook character.

Storybook Parade is a fun and positive alternative to Halloween that emphasizes the importance of youth literacy. “Our goal is to show that reading is fun and rewarding for all ages. We have worked very hard to provide the community with a day to dress up in a safe and encouraging environment for children,” states Mark A. Terry, Chief Executive Officer of BGCSCT.

Free food and games are provided for children ages 3 to 12, and there’s a “Best in Costume” contest for parade participants. This event is free and open to the public.
