Texas Preparatory School – Austin

  Substitute Teacher

This position requires the ability to complete training and apply knowledge to continue the current education and instructional theories, methods, techniques of subject matter for students in grades Pre-Kindergarten through 6 in the absence of the classroom teacher.

Major Responsibilities:
• Implement provided lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of the school’s curriculum program.
• Maintain a classroom environment that fosters learning and is appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
• Use technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process.
• Maintain open communication with parents, students, and staff.
• Comply with state and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.

Additional responsibilities:
• All candidates must assume the cost for and complete a successful fingerprinting check with human resources prior to starting employment.

Qualifications:
• High school diploma or a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university is preferred.
• One or more years of successful classroom experience with students is preferred.

Salary: $70.00 per day

Texas Preparatory School – San Marcos

  K-6th Grade STEM Instructor

This position requires the ability to apply knowledge of current education and instructional theories, methodologies, techniques, and principles; knowledge of subject matter; and knowledge of State, Local and Federal laws and regulations affecting the lives and education of students.

Education/Certification:  

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university and valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsement for subject and level assigned, or
  • Bachelor’s degree with five or more years of industry experience relevant to teaching in the core subject area.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver STEM-focused instruction through Project-Based Learning methods.
  • Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of the district’s curriculum program and show written evidence of preparation as required. Prepare culturally relevant, interdisciplinary lessons that integrate STEM curriculum and goals, require students to innovate and invent to solve real-world contextual problems, and include accommodations for individual student differences.
  • Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, equipment, and technology that reflect an understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned and present subject matter according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations.
  • Differentiate and personalize instruction to meet the needs of students.
  • Uses technology to promote learning, creativity, and collaboration.
  • Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.
  • Organize, develop and coordinate special STEM events/learning experiences.
  • Plan and assign work volunteer(s) and oversee completion.
  • Create classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students. Collaborate with a team to design behavioral expectations.
  • Manage student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.

Additional Skills:  Be able to successfully use the appropriate curriculum and technology required for high-quality STEM instruction.

Work Schedule: 30 hours per week, Monday – Friday, occasional evenings and weekends.

Starting Salary:  $17.00 per hour

Transportation Services: Bus Driver

The Transportation Services Bus Driver; provides safe and efficient transportation services to BGCSCT Club members and Texas Preparatory School San Marcos students. A successful applicant will have a high school diploma or equivalent, current CDL license with passenger endorsement, clean driving record, and experience operating a school bus. This position works 25 hours per week with occasional field trips, evenings and weekends as needed. This person obeys all State and Federal Traffic regulations and laws, uses effective defensive driving techniques, attends and completes all required training to obtain & maintain safety and driver certification.

Education/Certification
• High School Diploma or its equivalent;
• Knowledge of routes; Ability to interpret schedules, forms and maps;
• Must be able to pass a background check;
• Must be able to pass drug testing procedures;
• Have a clean driving record (Department of Public Safety);
• Texas School Bus Drivers Certification or CDL License with Passenger Endorsement preferred;

Desired Documented Work Experience
• Mass-passenger transport;
• Basic Vehicle Maintenance;
• Student Rider behavior management;
• Working with little supervision.

Major Responsibilities
1. Work closely with the Transportation Director to plan & implement Transportation throughout the Academic Year
and Summer.
2. Maintain vehicles and report necessary vehicle service to the Transportation Director.
3. Ability to adjust to new job responsibilities as assigned;

Starting Salary: $15.50 per hour
Days: Monday through Friday
Hours: 5:30 am – 8:00 am & 2:30pm – 5:00pm
