Boys and Girls Club

Position:  Accounting Technician

This employee performs paraprofessional accounting and financial record keeping work of a complex and specialized nature requiring the application of accounting, financial, and general office practices and principles.  Employees in this classification require in-depth knowledge of bookkeeping principles, as well as state and federal regulations pertaining to area of assignment.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Employees assigned to this classification are responsible for performing specialized bookkeeping and basic cost-accounting duties in which transactions require the use of considerable judgment.
  • The work is performed with minimal supervision within the limits of established office procedures and accounting processes under a wide variety of circumstances.
  • Contacts are typically with other organization employees, vendors, customers, other governmental agencies, and the general public in situations where considerable judgment and tact is required.
  • Employees in this classification encounter frequent deadline situations.
  • The responsibility for accuracy is critical as errors could have substantial impact on the organizations financial transactions.

Qualifications

Education and Experience required at this level consists of two years of clerical, bookkeeping, or technical accounting experience plus one additional year of experience in performing technical accounting work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience, or the completion of a vocational training course in accounting for the one year only of the required clerical, bookkeeping or technical accounting experience.

Job Details

Work Days:  Monday through Friday

Work Time:  8:00 am to 5:00 pm

Salary:         $28,500.00 to $30,000.00 based on experience

JOB TITLE: Communication Specialist (Marketing and Social Media)

The Communication Specialist Intern for Marketing and Social Media will provide support to promote the organization programs, fundraising efforts and special initiatives.  The Intern will market the organization, its events, and its programs using social media and other communication strategies and tools. This person will also be responsible for establishing and maintaining community relationships throughout the Austin/San Marcos area for the organization.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience in communicating to local business, organizations and community groups;
Experience in social media including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram;
Experience in photography and videography;
Strong written communication skills;

Experience in project management;
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:

Must have 3 or more years of training and experience in marketing, social media, photography and videography.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Must be able to work inside and outside; prolonged standing and walking; lifting and carrying; organization travel as assigned. Lift/move approximately 25-50 pounds. Other physical activities may be required.

Work Schedule:  15 to 20 hours per week, Monday – Friday and some weekends for special assignments and events.

Location:  must be able to travel to the organization units to complete assigned task in the Austin and San Marcos areas.

Salary range:  $15.00 to $18.00 per hour, depending on experience.

Texas Preparatory School – San Marcos

Day Custodian

This position requires the maintaining of an attractive, sanitary and safe facility for students, staff and public; providing equipment and furniture arrangements for meetings, classroom activities and events; and minimizing property damage, loss and facility structure.

Position requires ability to perform multiple, not-technical tasks with a need to occasionally upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions.  Specific skills required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: operating equipment used in industrial maintenance including electrical cleaning equipment, common tools, landscaping equipment, etc.; and adhering to safety practices.

QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma or its equivalent;

At least one year of experience in custodian field;

Must be able to pass a background check and satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting check prior to starting employment;

Have a clean driving record (Department of Public Safety);

Ability to adjust to new job responsibilities & tasks as assigned and work unsupervised;

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Physical Demands:

Work inside and outside; prolonged standing and walking; lifting and carrying; in-district travel as assigned and occasional cut-of district travel.  Lift/move approximately 30 – 50 pounds.  Other physical activities may be required.

Additional Skills: be able to promote teamwork and interaction with fellow staff members, maintain personal appearance and hygiene.  Ability to assume leadership and establish appropriate limits for children and enforce them in a positive manner.  

REPORTS TO: Director of Operations

Salary range: $12.0per hour

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 6:00am – 3:00pm, occasional evenings and weekends.

Texas Preparatory School – San Marcos

 Transportation Services:  Bus Driver

The Transportation Services Bus Driver; provides safe and efficient transportation services to BGCSCT Club members and Texas Preparatory School students. A successful applicant will have a high school diploma or equivalent, current CDL license with passenger endorsement, clean driving record, and experience operating a school bus. This position works 25 hours per week with occasional field trips, evenings and weekends as needed. This person obeys all State and Federal Traffic regulations and laws, uses effective defensive driving techniques, attends and completes all required training to obtain & maintain safety and driver certification.

Education/Certification
High School Diploma or its equivalent;

Knowledge of routes; Ability to interpret schedules, forms and maps;

Must be able to pass a background check;

Must be able to pass drug testing procedures;

Have a clean driving record (Department of Public Safety);

Texas School Bus Drivers Certification or CDL License with Passenger Endorsement;

Desired Documented Work Experience

Mass-passenger transport;

Basic Vehicle Maintenance;

Student Rider behavior management;

Working with little supervision.

Major Responsibilities
1. Work closely with the Transportation Director to plan & implement Transportation throughout the Academic Year and summer.
2. Maintain vehicles and report necessary vehicle service to the Transportation Director.
3. Ability to adjust to new job responsibilities as assigned.

Starting Salary: $15.50 per hour

Days:  Monday through Friday

Hours:  5:30 am – 8:00 am & 2:00pm – 5:00pm
